In 2006 he was awarded with the medal of the Ministry of Science and Education of Kazakhstan.
He was the leader, coordinator and expert in more than 30 projects in economic, political and environmental areas of research funded by NATO, the EU, the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the Mark Planck Institute, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the International Geographical Union, the Regional Environmental Program, etc.
In 2015, the project “Improving Human Resources for Sustainable Development: The Azerbaijan Model” (headed by Prof. Ch. Ismayilov) won a grant competition held by the Science Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2015-2016, 60,000 manats).
From 2004 to the present, he has been the head of the Azerbaijan Regional Development Center (NGO) Foundation.
Ismailov Ch. is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, including 15 books, 3 monographs and 3 textbooks. He was a participant in more than 90 international congresses, symposiums and scientific conferences. More than 80 scientific works of the author have been published in foreign countries.
Since April 2019, he has been elected Chairman of the Expert Commission on Geography, the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan
