Successful publishing of articles in top international journals by Russian economists: an analysis of the principal conditions
Abstract
Russian economists must contribute to the national project "Science" via publishing their papers in top international journals indexed in "Web of Science" and "Scopus" and possessing impact-factors. In order to overcome the evident difficulties in solution of this task, it is necessary to analyze the current experience of successful article publishing in such editions by Russian scientists. For this purpose, 10 papers from major journal of the "Elsevier" publisher authored solely by Russian economists are analyzed. As a rule, these articles have 2–3 authors, the majority of whom represent the only Russian university. Thematically, these works are oriented on problems relevant to finances and innovations. These articles are distinguished by methodological "depth", and their competitive advantage is linked to analysis of the world economic space or attention to Russian specifics that can be interpreted meaningfully in international aspect. There are not articles based on regional investigations. All analyzed works are empirical and distinguished by considerable length (up to 10 printed pages and more) and lengthy lists of references. The conditions that allow successful publishing of economical papers in top international journals are fixed sharply, and Russian scientists should find reasonable to follow these or, at least, to take them into account.
